It’s true. Boys really do love their toys. And when they involce engines, X-boxes and things that blow stuff up, so much the better.

So when a group of 20-something actors got the oportunity to combine their love of all three they were there faster than the time it took to switch on a console! Fasitua Amosa, Damein Avery and Nick Foo are stars of “Gestalt” part of the Big Boys Pants Tour and the Waikato University of Performing Arts.

Gestalt is based around the lives of three guys obsessed with the legendary game, Halo and what happens when a girl is thrown into the mix!

“We knew Peter Jackson had been in pre-production for Halo, the movie and that got us wondering whether there might be props or anything we could use” says Amosa “Nowhere in the world would you be able to rock up to a multiple Oscar winning organisation and ask to take photos with their stuff. No Way”

“But one of the great things about New Zealand is everyone knows someone and a phone call or teo later, we were walking through the doors of Weta Workshop.”

In an extraordinary act of generosity, Richard Taylor and his Weta team threw open the doors to their top secret workshop and literally left the guys to play with the costumes, armour, weapons and even the Warthog.

“I was still getting over the fact Richard had even bothered to come and say hello, then next thinh we’re standing right in front of the Warthog,” says Amosa.

“I commented to the workshop tech that it actually sits quite low to which he replied ‘oh wait till I turn it on’ which he does and boom, the Warthog’s sitting on airbags.

“Weta had agreed we could use everything for publicity shots so we got to work taking photos. A staff member says ‘Do you guys need the weapons?’ to which we’re all like ‘yes please, if its not to much trouble,thank you please.”

“When he came back with the Battle Rifle, I think we all collectively wet our pants with excitement. Then came the Spiker, Carbine . . . ‘is that the Sniper Rifle?  Oh yeah im sure we could use the Rocket Launcher somewhere, thank you’. It was an awesome afternoon”

Weta’s costume supervisort Matt Appleton says everything the boys use was designed to be true to the game. “We got digital files from Bungy to replicate everything, we knew we had to be dead on otherwise the fans wouldn’t be at all happy. One little curve wrong and it’d be all over.”

“At the play-house, we’ll give our audience the chance to step inside the Halo world. Almost like we did at Weta. And if they have half as much fun as we did, then we’ll be happy.’”

It takes a special show to really entertain me and not since “Boston Legal” have I been so eager to tune in every week! The network really has not done Ted the justice it deserves with Hiatus’ and time slot changes!

It’s clear from the very first episode that this is not your ordinary sitcom 2 parts “The Office” 1 part “Big Bang Theory” Better Off Ted follows Ted a go getting single dad in his liaison position between upper management and the workers at Research and Development company “Veridian Dynamics” a work place that at first seems like a terrible company where big brother is constantly watching, leaves you by the end of the series wishing you could punch in your time card there every morning!

The characters are very well written the dialogue is amazing! While at first it may seem weird and off, it proves to be witty and intelligent and only ads to the value of this show! Each episode is filled with a new inventions and interesting situations:

• Cow-less Meat
• Jet packs
• Biocomputers
• Fight Clubs

and even cryonically freezing  one of their top scientists!

Some times this show feels like a live action episode of “The Simpsons” or a similar cartoon which I believe is a testament to how good it really is!

The show can only get better as the characters and the company(which feels as though its a character in its own right) grow and develop more depth in the second season!

Tonight’s episode of Entourage seemed weird. I don’t know if it was the pacing and cutting of the episode but something seemed off.

Perhaps it was Ari acting all fatherly,Maybe it was because Turtle was off doing his own thing… The show is called Entourage but every one wants to prove they can hack it on their own without Vince.  TIP: If your friend is buying you Ferraris for your birthday, mooch off him for as long as possible!

Hung S01E04 “The Pickle Jar”

Episode 4 all ready huh? I’m not sure if I love or hate this show… It gives you just enough in the last couple of minutes to want to tune in the following week. The story seems sort of bland and dull. I guess the first couple of episodes had to set up the back story and characters though.. But if episode 5 doesn’t speed up the pace this show will be hung out to dry for me!

I’m slowly working my way through “Better Off Ted” This show is great! Give it a go if you haven’t already!

I hate to see what awaits these guys when the wraith of /b hits! Its gunna be one hell of a PR shitstorm!!

Watchmen came out on DVD 4 days ago! I was hoping that I could post up my  opinion and review of the special directors cut this weekend, But apparently all  the  stores in Hamilton the city in New Zealand where I live don’t have it until  mid  August!

This really annoys me, my girlfriend and I are both huge fans, saw the movie  twice  at the cinema, lets just say I’m not that anti-movie piracy, but I wanted to  show my  support for the movie, and was willing to pay for it…

If this were Harry  Potter it would be a worldwide release date. Its not as though its a  low profile  movie! I should have ordered it off Amazon or something! I’m sure it  would get  here quicker than how ever long its going to take them to release it here!

But I want it now…. any one know any good torrents?

I wish they wouldn’t censor all of the cussing in this show, people know Gordon Ramsay swears  and expect it when they watch his shows. It subtracts from the show when every second word is  cut out!

The contestants on the show were not very engaging, they just had no personality, most of them  spoke in monotone voices and sounded stupid as shit. America if they are your best to offer no  wonder you all just eat fast food!

Robert the huge guy who was welcomed back to compete again seriously needs to loose some  weight, he obviously needs to eat less of his own food. Hey man ever hear of portion control?

That said im going to tune in again next week jus to see why the place looks like its burning down  and to see if anything comes of the very scripted  Joseph wanting to fight Chef Ramsay

I give most shows 3 episodes before I give up on them so we will have to see I ’m impressed next  week. Because viewing the first two episodes felt similar to watching a train wreck in progress!

Burn Burn by Our Lady Peace is their 7th Studio Album.

With tracks destined for the breakup montages in cheesy teenage sitcoms everywhere I  couldn’t help but feel as though this album was lacking something. I am obviously not the  target demographic for this sort of music, but the lyrics felt weak.

The bass lines in the songs were great and so was the tone of the guitars.

At times the lead singer almost had a bono-esqe sound to his voice, but fell short of having  the vocal range to back up the fun paint by numbers rock.

This album would be great for a lazy hungover Sunday on the couch, but the songs all start  sounding the same after a while…

My recommendation put on some Dashboard Confessional instead!

Growing up I missed out on a few things and a boyish love for cars was one. Being the geeky type I was more comfortable talking about RAM and Gigabytes than MPH and Brake Horse Power. I still don’t have a license but have developed for this show a sence of appreciation, The challenges the jokes and the high budget of Top Gear makes it an entertaining show for people from all walks of life, not just car lovers.

It seems to me though with all the money BBC pump into the show they should invest in some new cameras and upgrade to High Definition. They were in the Snowy Alps of France testing RWD cheap cars ( Top Gear if you are reading this in your next reasonably priced car challenge test an MR2 I bet that it would own) and the way that they shoot top gear really does lend itself to HD, the smoke pillowing into the air from burning tyres, The beautiful panoramic shots of what ever expensive location BBC had decided to send them that week,  the SD 576i footage that they use just doesn’t cut the mustard any more!

Last nights episode S13E05 was everything you’d come to expect from the show, I thought James May was especially on fire with his jokes and Clarkson was great in his bit trying to save the world from carbon emissions by towing a trailer of tomatoes!
